ORIGIN/HABITAT: Recently discovered in Ecuador and in the San Martin area
of Peru. In both locations, the plants grow in semishade at 3608 ft. (1100
m), on steep, east-facing, wet embankments or wet granite rocks where they
are exposed to early morning sun. In Peru, they grow in close association
with P. boisseranum, while in Ecuador, P. besseae grows very near colonies
of P. schlimii.
