Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F). I found that it does well in a loose, well-drained cypress twig and tree fern mix in a basket. Likes medium light.
Comments: Parent plant: Species native to the Caribbean and South Florida, grows epiphytically on the base of native rosemary bushes. Medium-sized plant.

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Eastern Florida and the northern Bahamas. These plants
grow as epiphytes or semiterrestrials in extremely bright conditions.
According to Luer (1972), "The plants begin life terrestrially, nestled
down among the lichen, debris, and sand beneath shrubbery. They seem to
have a particular preference for rosemary (Ceratiola ericoides). As the
plant reaches flowering size, it climbs up into the lower branches of the
shrub and sends its flower-spike up through the twigs to elevate its buds
out into the open. The plants are exceedingly difficult to see when not in
flower ... of added interest, however, is the fact that the flower of each
plant varies considerably from that of the next".
