Offspring 'MC5360' Flowers
Offspring photos are siblings of the plants you would receive.

Culture Notes from Donor: Pod parent plant: Temperature range C (52-70°F)

Comments: This may actually be a sib-cross (if the plants are from the same parents) or a selfing (if they are divisions of the same plant. Either is as possible as being an outcross since the plants came from the same source in Madagascar.

Pod parent plant: Awaiting ID. The plant and flowers appear to me identical to Polystachya rhodochila but are white/off-white and are fragrant. The 3 cultivars of Polystachya rhodochila that I have never have a fragrance. Small plant.

About the name...
Etymology of Polystachya   From latinized Greek "poly" many; "stachys" grain ear. Sometimes the raceme bears flower remnants from previous years. (Source: Mayr & Schmucker 1998)
Etymology of sp.   An abbreviation of the word "species," it indicates that based on the provenance of the plant it is believed to be naturally occurring, but the identity is as yet undetermined. (Source: Troy Meyers)
Pronunciation of Polystachya   pol-ee-STAK-ee-ah (Source: Hawkes 1978)
Pronunciation of sp.   Here, we say "spuh" rather than "species" to convey without explanation that it's an unidentified species. (Source: Troy Meyers)

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 380 plants (based on flask surveys done 11/03/2004 through 08/24/2005)
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 0.2 - 70 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 11/03/2004 through 12/28/2005)
From one most recently surveyed flask 25 - 70 mm (12/28/2005)
