Comments: Probably a new species, this has been tentatively named by Dr. Bergold. It is similar to C. albertina but the hypochile is different, it has a much shorter flower stalk, only 4-6 flowers, and its natural location is about 500 km east and has never been found previously.

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Venezuela to northern Brazil. In Venezuela, plants have
been collected in the state of Miranda in the north, in the Federal
Territory of Amazonas in the southwest, and in the Gran Sabana region in
the state of Bolívar in the southeast. Regrettably, details of precise
habitat location and elevation were not given, so the following climate
table and cultural suggestions are based on an estimated elevation and
should be used with a great deal of caution until such time as the actual
elevation is known.
