The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.
This text is copyrighted by the Bakers and may not be reproduced without permission.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia and Ecuador. Plants have been found in northern Ecuador where they grow as epiphytes in cloudforests mostly at 5900-8200 ft. (1800-2500 m). Collections have been made in Carchi Province between Tulcan and Maldonado at 7050-8550 ft. (2150-2600 m), in Imbabura Province at several locations near Apuela at 7550-9850 ft. (2300-3000 m), in Napo Province near Papallacta at 9200 ft. (2800 m), and in Pichincha Province at numerous locations at 3950-9200 ft. (1200-2800) but mostly above 6550 ft. (2000 m). Although reported to occur in Colombia, specific details of the habitat in that region have not been reported.
