The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico. Found in dry oak forests of the mountains in
northeastern Mexico at 3300-4000 ft. (1000-1200 m) in the states of
Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosi, Vera Cruz, and Hidalgo. The habitat extends
from near the Texas border to just northeast of Mexico City.
