ORIGIN/HABITAT: Southwest Mexico and Central America including Guatemala,
Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Plants usually grow in pine-oak
forests on rocky hills at up to 4900 ft. (1500 m) on the Pacific-facing
side of the mountains. In Mexico, however, plants are found in the state
of Veracruz as well as Chiapas and Oaxaca. They usually grow on the
horizontal limbs of oak trees in shallow moss and accumulated debris.
