The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru. In Venezuela, plants grow
at 4250-4900 ft. (1300-1500 m) near Caràcas in the Federal District and
near Colonia Tovar in the State of Aragua. They are also found at 3450 ft.
(1050 m) near Barquisimeto in the State of Lara. In Colombia, they grow
near Popayàn at 4600-5600 ft. (1400-1700 m), in forests near the Ovajas
and Honda Rivers, and near El Hatico. Schweinfurth (1958-1961) reports
that plants are also found in Peru at 5250-5900 ft. (1600-1800 m) in the
Chanchamayo Valley in the Department of Junín.
