Comments: Parent plant: One of the offspring from our TN1377 effort of 2000. Unusual fragrance, not "floral" but earthy or like freshly cut vegetation, perhaps like a sliced radish. The labellum is 5.5 cm.

Temperatures we attempt to use in the lab & greenhouse:

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Peru and Bolivia. Distribution is normally reported to include Peru but we found no records of collections or reports of habitat location and elevation in Peru. In Bolivia, plants were originally identified as Stanhopea deltoidea was later recognized as Stanhopea xytriophora was found in the Department of Cochabamba near Chapare at 6050 ft. (1850 m). These plants grow on trees but they are frequently found as terrestrials on steep slopes or rocks.
