Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have sold all of the flasks for this item. |
You should: |
Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask. You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.
You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.
You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had. |
Yield Estimate: |
330 plants (based on flask surveys done 04/15/2009 through 07/23/2009)
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 50 - 110 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 09/08/2009 through 02/03/2010)
From one most recently surveyed flask 60 - 110 mm (02/03/2010)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Costa Rica and western Panama. Horich (1974) reported that
this rare plant is endemic to a rather narrow, wet, belt of rainforest,
mainly along the upper and middle Reventazon River and its tributaries in
the eastern Atlantic portion of the Meseta Central. Horich also reported
finding a strain of the locally rare species in the extremely wet, dark,
inhospitable gulch of the upper section of the Rio de la Hondura north of
the La Palma saddle of the Cordillera Central. In the Reventazon region,
the orchid appears to be confined to the southern margin of the river in
the wettest part of a habitat that is bathed in fog and clouds and in some
areas is very swampy. Stanhopea warscewicziana normally grows at 3600-4600
ft. (1100-1400 m) and has never been found below 1950 ft. (600 m).
