Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F). I have it growing in a 10 cm (4 inch) round clay pot with broken red brick and coir fiber. During the warm months it is placed in direct sun in the yard and is watered about every other day. In cold weather it is placed under fluorescent lights in the basement and watered about 2 times a week. The lights are placed about 3-5 inches from the leaf tops.

Comments: Parent plant: Medium-sized plant. This is a relatively new reintroduction. This plant was imported by a friend of mine and I have had it for 2 years. This is a small growing Aerides with a leafspan of about 12-22 cm. It produces a semi-upright inflorescence of very dark purple flowers. So far it flowers only once a year around the end of September to early October. Each inflorescence produces about 10-22 flowers.

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 30 plants (based on flask surveys done 12/08/2008 )
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 20 - 40 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 05/05/2009 )
From one most recently surveyed flask 20 - 40 mm (05/05/2009)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Sulawesi (formerly the Celebes). Plants originally described as Aerides reversa J. J. Smith were discovered in the northern part Sulawesi near Palele (Paleleh) at about 1N lat. and 122E long. Habitat elevation was not reported, so the following climate table and cultural suggestions are based on an estimated elevation and should be used with caution.
