Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have sold all of the flasks for this item. |
You should: |
Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask. You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.
You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.
You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had. |
Yield Estimate: |
90 plants (based on flask surveys done 03/11/2010 )
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 15 - 30 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 04/26/2011 through 08/30/2011)
From one most recently surveyed flask 15 - 25 mm (08/30/2011)

The origin/habitat information below is supplied courtesy of Charles and Margaret Baker
The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.
This text is copyrighted by the Bakers and may not be reproduced without permission.
ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia and Ecuador. This orchid was discovered in
Colombia, but details of habitat locality and elevation were not given.
These plants were cultivated in Medellín, however. Plants have since been
reported as being collected in Ecuador in the province of Pichincha
Province without giving elevation information and in Tungurahua Province
at 5600 ft. (1700 m). To compound the felony surrounding the accepted name
of this species, JØrgensen & León-Yánez (1999) reported that these reports
were based on misidentified material. Since then, however, a collection of
Elongatia excelsa has been reported in Zamora-Chinchipe Province with no
locality or elevation information given. Based on this wealth of habitat
information and the fact that we do not have access to any plant and
flower information, we are unable at this time to select representative
climate data, make reasonable cultural suggestions, or provide even a
basic description of the plant and flowers.
