About the name...
Etymology of Epigeneium   From latinized Greek "epi" on; "geneion" chin. The lateral sepals are fused with the extended column foot and form a chin-like structure. (Source: Mayr & Schmucker 1998)
Etymology of treacherianum   Named for W. H. Treacher, colonial secretary of Labuan (island near North Borneo), 19th century. (Source: Mayr & Schmucker 1998)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: The Philippines and Borneo. In the Philippines, these epiphytic orchids are found on Luzon Island where they grow in the provinces of Bataan, Benquet, Kalinga-Apayao, Quezon, and Rizal at 1950-3950 ft. (600-1200 m). They are also reported from Oriental Mindoro Province on Mindoro Island and from Samar Island in the Visayas. On Borneo, these plants are found in Kalimantan, Sabah and Sarawak where they grow in lowland and mixed hill forest at 350-1300 ft. (100-400 m).
