Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range W (70-90°F). Plants need to be watered and fertilized heavily during active growth, followed by a relatively dry rest period. Appreciates bright light.
Comments: This is a selfing done on flowers that appear to have the organs of both sexes.
Parent plant: Plants are found in Panama, Colombia and Venezuela. They produce fleshy deciduous pseudobulbs with thin leaves. Has large green flowers, with a cream lip placed at top of the flower. Flowers are approximately six inches across. Extremely fragrant during the morning. Large plant.

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela. In Panama, plants are
found in Chiriquí Province and along the Río La Maestra between sea level
and 100 ft. (0-25 m). In Venezuela, plants are found on isolated open
trees near Caracas at 2950-3300 ft. (900-1000 m) as well as along the old
road between Caracas and Maracay. Collections are reported in the states
of Aragua, Miranda at 2800 ft. (850 m), Yaracuy at 1650 ft. (500 m), and
Zulia. In Colombia, this is the most frequently occurring species of the
genus. Specific habitat location was not given, but plants are said to
grow in the hot lowlands below 3300 ft. (1000 m).
