The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Southeast Asia, where it is widespread. The habitat includes Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Assam, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southwest China in the provinces of Yunnan and Szechwan and the islands of Hainan and Taiwan. In Thailand, plants occur in the north, southeast, and on the peninsula. In northern Thailand, plants are found on Doi Pui at about 5000 ft. (1530 m). In Burma, plants grow in the Tenasserim region at 5000-6000 ft. (1530-1830 m). In Vietnam, plants are found in many locations from Dalat in the south to Cha Pa near the Chinese border at 4920-5250 ft. (1500-1600 m).
