Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F). Culture as typical for multifloral paphs in subgenus Cochlopetalum (known for ease of culture and bloom). Benefits from somewhat more fertilizer than most paphs.
 
Comments: Paphiopedilum liltii is a part of the intergraded Paphiopedilum primulinum complex from the north end of the island of Sumatra. It is considered synonymous with P. primulinum v. purpurascens, though the plant and flowers are significantly smaller.

Parent plant: A fast growing, reliable blooming miniature sequential bloomer. The plant, obtained in 2000 as a single growth seedling, bloomed first in 2001 & now again in 2002 as a four-growth plant which still fits nicely into an extra-deep 2" plastic pot. The included photo is not great - the camera angle distorts the proportion of the dorsal sepal. Previous flowers on this inflorescence had better conformation of the petals.

Temperatures we attempt to use in the lab & greenhouse:
For Species:   Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter: days average 84°F, nights 67°F; best fit is Warm-Intermediate 87-64°F (Source: Baker's Web OSC)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Northern Sumatra. Plants are found at 1200-1650 ft. (400-500 m) in the vicinity of Mt. Leuser. They grow in humus on the floor of dwarf forest on top of limestone hills.
