The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia. Plants are found in the eastern branch of the
Andes in the Department of Santander, primarily in the area between
Pamplona and Bucaramanga. They normally grow on short stunted trees, but
they are also found on exposed precipices and bare rocks growing in almost
full sun. We were unable to find references to specific habitat elevation
so climate data is for station elevation at Bucaramanga. However, the
temperatures indicated in the climate table should be used with caution.
