The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. In Ecuador, plants are found
in the southern Provinces of Azuay, El Oro, and Loja. They have been
collected for the most part between Cuenca and Loja. These plants grow as
terrestrials on steep slopes in wet mountain forests, usually at 7850-8550
ft. (2400-2800 m), but they have been found as low as 6550 ft. (2000 m).
In Peru, plants are found in the northwestern Department of Cajamarca near
Celendin. They grow on the surface of steep, rocky, grass and brush
covered slopes of red clay soils at 7850-8550 ft. (2400-2800 m). In
Bolivia, plants were seen in the Department of Santa Cruz between
Samaipata and Quirusillas. They grow attached to rock faces or in grass
covered mountain scrub, but habitat elevation was not given.
