The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Guyana and Venezuela. Plants were originally found in Guyana close to the Venezuelan border near the headwaters of the Mazaruni River. They have since been found in the State of Bolivar in southeast Venezuela, which is just southwest of the area of the original discovery. Most plants grow in patches of dense forests at 1300–3300 ft. (400–1000 m) near the border with Brazil in the general area of Santa Elena and Icabarú. The patches of forest in which plants are found dot an otherwise open, grassy savanna, so plants are exposed to strong light and good air movement.
