The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.
This text is copyrighted by the Bakers and may not be reproduced without permission.
ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and the
West Indies. In Mexico, collections have been made in Oaxaca and Chiapas
at 600-3100 ft. (180-940 m) and has been reported as occurring in damp
forests in the states of San Luís Potosí and Veracruz. In Belize, plants
are uncommon but may be found on trees in moist forests in the Cayo and
Toledo districts. In Guatemala, collections have been made in the
Department of Izabal where it grow epiphytically in dense, damp forests at
elevations up to 4250 ft. (1300 m). Collections in Nicaragua have been
made in Granada and in Zelaya at about 1200 ft. (370 m). In Costa Rica,
plants have been collected in Guanacaste Province at 2600-3800 ft.
(800-1160 m), in Puntarenas Province at (300-1200 m), and in San Jose
Province at 1300 ft. (400 m). In the West Indies, plants have been
reported in Jamaica, Cuba, and Trinidad.
