ORIGIN/HABITAT: Central America and northern South America to as far south
as Bolivia. In Panama, plants are reported from Chiriquí Province at
3300-6550 ft. (1000-2000 m). In Ecuador, plants are found in numerous
locations, usually at 4900-6550 ft. (1500-2000 m), but collections from as
high as 8250 ft. (2700 m) are reported. In Venezuela, plants occur in
several locations including the northern mountains at about 6550 ft. (2000
m). In Peru, the plants discussed by Schweinfurth (1958-1961) as
Pleurothallis trialata Cogniaux grew near Muña in the Department of
Huánuco growing in rock crevices in dry woods at 6900 ft. (2100 m) and in
the Department of Junín near Colonia Perene where they grew on trees in
densely forested areas at 2250 ft. (680 m). In Bolivia, plants are found
in subxerophytic forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes in the
departments of La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz.
