The origin/habitat information below is supplied courtesy of Charles and Margaret Baker

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.
This text is copyrighted by the Bakers and may not be reproduced without permission.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. In Peru, these plants have been found in the department of Huánuco near Leoncio Prado above Tingo María at about 2600 ft. (800 m). In Bolivia, plants have been found in northeastern Cochabamba near Chapare on the Río Cristal Mayu. No other details were reported. Although described as occurring in Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador, the name for plants discussed in the literature from those regions is so mixed up with earlier synonymy that we are not certain it is actually Epidendrum calanthum being discussed.
