ORIGIN/HABITAT: The Greater Antilles from Cuba to the Virgin Islands
except Jamaica. This species is the most widely distributed in the genus.
It grows on twigs, shrubs, and small trees in habitats that range from
arid to very wet from near sea level to about 6550 ft. (0–2000 m). In
Puerto Rico, however, which is near the southern, and therefore warmest,
limit of the range, plants are collected at less than 2600 ft. (800 m) in
both dry and wet areas usually in areas of disturbed vegetation.
