Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have sold all of the flasks for this item. |
You should: |
Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask. You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.
You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.
You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had. |
Yield Estimate: |
1774 plants (based on flask surveys done 10/21/2009 through 12/01/2011)
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 20 - 110 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 02/03/2010 through 03/13/2012)
From one most recently surveyed flask 30 - 60 mm (03/13/2012)

The origin/habitat information below is supplied courtesy of Charles and Margaret Baker
The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. In Mexico, plants are
found in the mountains on the Gulf of Mexico side of the country in the
states of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Querétaro,
Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. They normally grow in warm oak
forests with tropical deciduous trees at 3950–5250 ft. (1200–1600 m). The
habitat is varied, however, and plants may grow somewhat higher or lower
in cooler or hotter climates in both shady and sunny locations. The varied
habitat indicates an adaptability that explains why plants are usually
considered easy to cultivate. On the Pacific side of the mountains, plants
are found in the state of Oaxaca and possibly in Guerrero and Jalisco as
well. They are most often found in oak trees in humid forests at 5250–5900
ft. (1600–1800 m), but they occasionally grow on rocks. This species is
also reported in Guatemala and Honduras, but we found no information about
habitat location and elevation in these countries.
