Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F)
Comments: Parent plant: This plant came from South America as Stanhopea candida but is unmistakably a very nice, deep-orange connata. Not something you see every day and not a selfing of the same old cultivars. Medium-sized plant.

Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have sold all of the flasks for this item. |
You should: |
Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask. You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.
You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.
You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had. |
Yield Estimate: |
90 plants (based on flask surveys done 07/23/2009 )
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 60 - 110 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 12/01/2009 through 01/19/2010)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Plants grow on the eastern
slopes of the Andes southward from near the Caribbean coast usually at
3600-5600 ft. (1100-1700 m). Stanhopea connata is usually epiphytic, often
on branches above standing or slowly moving water. In Ecuador, plants have
been collected along the Rio Topo between Banos and Puyo at 4250 ft. (1300
m), in Zamora-Chinchipe at Kilometer 56 between Loja and Zamora at 4600
ft. (1400 m), and at the confluence of Rio Quijos and Rio Barja near Baeza
at 5600 ft. (1700 m) in mountain cloud forests. Plants grow on a variety
of host trees 13-20 ft. (4-6 m) above the forest floor. In Peru,
collections have been made in the Department of Amazonas on the
Rioja-Chachapoyas road near Venceremes at 4900 ft. (1500 m).
