Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Grows in the garden in the Pacific Northwest with little winter protection.
Comments: Parent plant: This form has variegated leaves which makes it a nice addition to the standard green leaf form. Can grow into large clumps if conditions and culture are right.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: China, Japan, and Korea. This is a widespread species
found in many provinces in China from Guangdong and Guangxi in the south
northward to Korea and into Japan. Plants grow in rocky places on thinly
bushed or grassy slopes at 3600-10,500 ft. (1100-3200 m).
