Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F)

Comments: This species grows very easily from seed. It has a wide natural range, from the slopes of the peak of Orizaba (Mexico) south into Central America. In the northern range it grows from 4000 to 5000 ft. elevation and in the southern range from 5000 to 7000 ft.

Parent plant: The plant came from the northern range of the species, above the town of Cordoba in the state of Vera Cruz, Mexico. Epi. parkinsonianum does grow and bloom in collections here on the Gulf Coast, (it's pretty adaptable to the warmer conditions), but it does not do as well as it can in intermediate conditions. Please remember while you are growing it, that this plant grows in a pendent position; the pseudobulbs trail downward. They do not normally grow upright. Grow it mounted on a plaque or wood, or in a basket turned sideways (as with Cuitlauzina or Chysis). The leaves are fleshy, with a thick cuticle, up to 10" long and 3/4" wide on the mother plant. Large, usually single, creamy white flowers. Medium-sized plant.

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 285 plants (based on flask surveys done 09/14/2003 )
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 15 - 40 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 01/22/2004 through 02/02/2004)
From one most recently surveyed flask 20 - 40 mm (02/02/2004)
