ORIGIN/HABITAT: Borneo, Java, and Sumatra. On Borneo, this orchid is found
in Sabah in lower montane forest at elevations up to 4900 ft. (1500 m).
This orchid is reportedly very common all over Java and is found on almost
every mountain. Plants are found at elevations of 1650-8200 ft. (500-2500
m), but occur most frequently at 2450-5900 ft. (750-1800 m). They grow
hanging down from tree trunks and branches in both shaded and fairly
bright situations. This species is much rarer in Sumatra, but plants have
been found near Berastagi in North Sumatra at 4200 ft. (1280 m) and near
Alahan Panjang in West Sumatra.
