ORIGIN/HABITAT: Costa Rica and Panama. In Costa Rica, this orchid is most
often found in lowlands and lower mountain rainforests at 1300-3300 ft.
(400-1000 m). In Panama, however, plants grow in Chiriquí Province at 3950
ft. (1200 m). Although fairly common in cultivation, plants are now rather
rare in nature, primarily because of habitat destruction.
