The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Brazil. Plants were originally collected in the Organ
Mountains northeast of Rio de Janeiro. It is now known that plants also
occur in the coastal mountains in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo,
and Paraná. The habitat extends inland to the mountains of Minas Gerais.
Plants usually grow on small twigs and branches in cool, misty forests,
but they also grow in crevices and debris pockets in the eroded sandstone
at Vila Velha near Ponta Grossa in the state of Paraná. Plants are found
at 1650-1950 ft. (500-600 m) in areas that receive about 47.2 in. (1200
mm) of rain per year.
