ORIGIN/HABITAT: Thailand, Malaya, Sumatra, Bangka, Java, Borneo, and the
Moluccas. Plants are found in many locations on peninsular Thailand. In
Malaya, plants are often abundant on old trees in fairly exposed
locations. Plants grow all over Borneo usually between sea level and 1950
ft. (600 m). The habitats include mangrove forest, lowland forest, open
secondary forest, mixed dipterocarp forest, and peat-swamp forest. This
orchid is common in most of its habitat, but it is known from only one
location near sea level in southern Java near the border between Central
and East Java.
