The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Peru. Plants are found in the northern part of the
Department of San Martin near Moyobamba and Rioja as well as further south
in the Department of Junin. They grow at 1950-5900 ft. (600-1800 m) on low
trees in wet, mountain forests and in bright situations on large riverside
trees. This species was only described a few years ago, but recent
visitors to the habitat indicate that the region around Moyobamba-Rioja
has been stripped bare by collectors.
