The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia. Plants grow in several locations in the northern
part of the Western Cordillera, but they are found rather infrequently in
small areas. They have been collected in the Department of Antioquia near
Cañasgordas and Frontino, in the Department of Chocó at Vereda
Guangarales, and in the Department of Risaralda at the Cañon de Cuanza as
well as near Mampay and Tatamá. Plants are usually found at 5900-6550 ft.
(1800-2000 m), but they have been reported as high as 8000 ft. (2440 m).
Plants on grow on trees and the forest floor.
