ORIGIN/HABITAT: Brazil. Plants originate in the state of Minas Gerais. It
is a relatively common plant in the tableland area bounded by São João del
Rei, Piedade and Ouro Prêto. Visitors to the region report that the
plateau has a continental climate with hot days and cold nights resulting
in a large diurnal temperature range.
