ORIGIN/HABITAT: India. Habitat is somewhat uncertain. Bose & Bhattacharjee
(1980) reported plants are found in the Sundarbans, a large swampy area in
the delta at the mouth of the Ganges. Pradhan (1979), on the other hand,
stated, "Reported from the Upper Gangetic Plains." We have been persuaded
by the more positive approach of Bose & Bhattacharjee, however, and have
elected use the habitat reported by them. Growers should use the resulting
climate data and cultural suggestions somewhat cautiously, however, and if
their plant does not grow well, try a little cooler conditions in winter,
with a dry season that is a little drier and lasts a little longer than
indicated in the following climate table.
