The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Widespread in southeast Asia from India to Vietnam. In
India, plants grow in Nagaland, Manipur, and Sikkim where they are found
near Darjeeling at about 6550 ft. (2000 m). In Burma, plants have been
collected in the northern Tenasserim Range, near Lake Inle, and near
Bhamo. In northern and eastern Thailand, plants grow in semishaded areas
at about 4000 ft. (1220 m). D. thyrsiflorum var. parviflora Rchb. f. was
collected at 5000 ft. (1520 m) in Yunnan Province, southwestern China.
