The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: The West Indies in Cuba and Jamaica, Belize, Guatemala,
Honduras, El Salvador. In Belize, plants are common in some parts of the
Cayo district, where they grow on trees, rocks, and rotten logs in moist,
broad-leaved forests at 500-1950 ft. (150-600 m). In Guatemala, plants are
found at in the Departments of Petén and Santa Rosa, usually at elevations
below 2450 ft. (750 m). In El Salvador, plants grow in several locations
at 3300-3650 ft. (1000-1120 m). In Jamaica, plants are known to occur in
the Hollymount District, the Hope River Valley, Mason River, the Red Light
District, Manchester, and St. Ann. Unfortunately, but details regarding
the habitat were not reported.
