Comments: Medium-sized plant. This is a relatively new reintroduction. This plant was imported by a friend of mine and I have had it for 2 years. This is a small growing Aerides with a leafspan of about 12-22 cm. It produces a semi-upright inflorescence of very dark purple flowers. So far it flowers only once a year around the end of September to early October. Each inflorescence produces about 10-22 flowers.
Donor's culture notes: Temperature range I (60-83°F). I have it growing in a 10 cm (4 inch) round clay pot with broken red brick and coir fiber. During the warm months it is placed in direct sun in the yard and is watered about every other day. In cold weather it is placed under fluorescent lights in the basement and watered about 2 times a week. The lights are placed about 3-5 inches from the leaf tops.
Unique ID: MC4696
(this will not change even if any part of the name should change)
