Comments: As is so common for Stanhopea plants I have received, this was mis-tagged. The tag said Stanhopea avicula, which it certainly is not, but at least that is a clue since avicula is from Panama. I believe this plant to be Stanhopea panamensis based on the flower morphology alone, and this is borne out by the likelihood that it came from Panama. The strong fragrance is unlike any other Stanhopea that I know, a pleasant root beer scent, or perhaps a little richer, like a root-beer float. Medium-sized plant.
