Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

TN4896
Number of capsules harvested:  3

Seed Assay Number:   3386
Packet Code Number:   1A03386YO
Harvest date:   01/21/2005
Received as:   Rotty brown capsules
Date Received:   01/27/2005
Number of Capsules Combined:   3
Comments:   Packet received was a folded envelope.
Capsules were crushed and rotting, so the seed had to be dried and prepared. Seed appears clean and debris-free, but has made contact with juice from the rotting capsules. One capsule was discarded because it was completely rotten.
Seed is golden brown to the naked eye, and coarse. Moderately large seeds are long and thin, sometimes curved, and have moderately small sized round brownish-yellow embryos centrally located which are 1/10 the length of the seed.
Seeds that appeared to have
good embryos, by count:
  89%
