Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

This portion was greencapped, and the assay based on a wet pulp sample. Seed is tannish yellow to the naked eye, and free flowing and coarse. Moderately small seeds are long, thin, windsock shaped, straight, and have moderately small sized elongated yellowish-green embryos toward the pointed end which nearly fill the seed.

Seed is tannish yellow to the naked eye, and somewhat fluffy. Medium sized seeds are windsock shaped, sometimes curved, and have medium sized elongated yellowish-green embryos centrally located which nearly fill the seed. This is the seed that was dried and processed from the original green cap, then sown.
