Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Packet received was a folded paper towel.
Capsule appears clean and intact.
Immature capsule was dry and needed to be scraped to obtain any material. Much of the content is placental material. Seed is medium brown to the naked eye, and fluffy. Small seeds are irregularly shaped, irregularly curved, and have small sized elongated yellow embryos centrally located which completely fill the seed when present. Seeds with bad or no embryos are much smaller.
