Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Seed is golden to the naked eye, and free flowing. Only a small quantity of seed was received. Small seeds are short, one pointed end, and have small sized elongated pale greenish yellow embryos centrally located which are 3/4 the length of the seed.

Seed is pale orange to the naked eye, and somewhat clumpy. Only a small quantity of seed was received. Small seeds are long-rice shaped, straight, and have small sized elongated yellow embryos centrally located which completely fill the seed.
