Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Comments:
Packet received was a folded coffee filter in a plastic bag.
Capsule had split and its contents had made contact with its exterior. Capsule and its stem were in a plastic bag outer packaging with the seed, which had caused moisture to be trapped and sour rot to develop.
Seed is yellow to the naked eye, and free flowing. Small seeds are short-rice shaped, straight, and have small sized elongated yellow embryos toward the pointed end which nearly fill the seed.
