Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Envelope was padded with plastic lining, and packet was in a sealed plastic bag. Packet received was a folded piece of printer paper.
Seed appears clean and debris-free.
Seed is medium tan to the naked eye, and free flowing and coarse. Only a small quantity of seed was received. Moderately large seeds are long, thin and windsock shaped, sometimes curved, and have medium sized elongated yellow embryos centrally located which are 1/5 the length of the seed.
