Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

TN4300
Number of capsules harvested:  1

Seed Assay Number:   2725
Packet Code Number:   1A02725XZ
Received as:   Dry seed
Date Received:   02/20/2004
Number of Capsules Combined:   1
Comments:   Packet received was a folded piece of printer paper. Many seeds were loose on the out side of the packet that could have been from packet 2724. There is a very likely chance that seed was mixed.
Seed appears clean and debris-free.
Seed is dark brown to the naked eye, and free flowing and coarse. Only a small quantity of seed was received. Moderately large seeds are long, sometimes curved, and have moderately large sized elongated brownish-yellow embryos centrally located which nearly fill the seed when present. Seeds with bad or no embryos are much smaller.
Seeds that appeared to have
good embryos, by count:
  69%
Estimated percent good, by volume:   75%
