Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Envelope was padded with plastic lining, so enclosed packets were moist.
Capsule is very wet and has moldy areas. Most of the cap will be discarded.
Seed is light yellow to the naked eye, and somewhat clumpy. Only a small quantity of seed was able to be used. Moderately small seeds are long, sometimes curved, and have small sized elongated yellow embryos centrally located which are 3/4 the length of the seed when present.
