Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

TN3823
Number of capsules harvested:  2

Seed Assay Number:   2231
Packet Code Number:   1A02231QZ
Harvest date:   04/05/2003
Received as:   Dry seed
Date Received:   04/24/2003
Number of Capsules Combined:   1
Comments:   Material is light yellow to the naked eye, and very clumpy. Only a small quantity of material was received. Most of the material was not seed, but some were present. Moderately small seeds are short-rice shaped, straight, and have small sized elongated pale yellow embryos centrally located which are 2/3 the length of the seed. Seed count indicates only that most of the seeds present appear good, not that most of the material is seed.
Seeds that appeared to have
good embryos, by count:
  89%
Estimated percent good, by volume:   2%
