Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

Comments:
Seed is pale tan to the naked eye, and somewhat clumpy. Only a small quantity of seed was received. Small seeds are short, straight, and have small sized elongated embryos centrally located which nearly fill the seed when present. Seeds with bad or no embryos are much smaller. A large amount of placental material is mixed in with the seed. The photo shows one good seed near the lower right.
