Incoming seed is examined to determine embryo count to help decide how much seed should be sown, and/or which capsule would be the best to sow. Permanent sample slides are also prepared. Each separate package of seed is examined because these are generally from separate capsules, which is what we request from our donors.

TN3033
Number of capsules harvested:  3

Seed Assay Number:   1512
Packet Code Number:   1A01512SQ
Received as:   Dry seed
Date Received:   04/12/2002
Number of Capsules Combined:   1
Comments:   Seed is pale tan to the naked eye, and lightweight and easily becomes airborne. Only a small quantity of seed was received, so no sample was taken, but appears to be similar to that in assay 1514.

Seed Assay Number:   1514
Packet Code Number:   1A01514SO
Received as:   Dry seed
Date Received:   04/12/2002
Number of Capsules Combined:   1
Comments:   Seed is pale tan to the naked eye, and lightweight and easily becomes airborne. Moderately small seeds are long and thin, and have small sized oval embryos centrally located which are 1/8 the length of the seed when present. Few seeds have embryos, and those embryos have a very low density, very questionable viability.
